Reflect on this for a moment, has there ever been a moment in your life where you have ever felt truly alive? Has there been a moment or event where you have felt as though all was right in the world, this was the Lord’s will, maybe even this is what you were created for? For this week’s Soulful Saturday I am reviewing and highly recommending the book, Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul by John and Stasi Eldredge. I have read this book many times and tell every woman that I get into conversation about these sorts of topics to consider reading this book. In fact, the other day I was meeting with a priest and in his office were piles and piles of this book because he is convinced that everyone woman, no matter where she is in life, should read this book.
This book does a wonderful job of meeting women where they are at. Whether you are married, single, discerning religious life, or in any part of your life, you can find meaning in this book. The purpose of Captivating is to help women realize that as women we are beautiful, courageous, and loved by a God who delights in us in each moment. By reading this book you are brought to an understanding that your heart and your desires to be fully alive are valid and a gift from God. The Lord is seeking for each of His daughters to live a life that helps them be feminine, gentle, loving, and captivating. This book is so great that even men who read it will learn so much about the feminine hearts of women. They learn how to love and cherish the hearts of their spouses, sisters, and friends because they are brought to a deeper understanding of the call that women have from God. I highly recommend this book and promise that you will learn more about yourself and who the Lord is calling you to be.
