Mercy Day 12 // His Mercy is Manifested in Salvation

“Not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy,he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit” Titus 3:5
You know, the sacraments and our faith sometimes just give me chills. When we sit back and look, we can see how they are all intertwined and how they all manifest in each other. They rely on each other and connect us to salvation. Even more so, they show us how His mercy is manifested in our salvation.
Quickly, to manifest means: to be evident in, to display or show, or to become apparent in. So, his mercy will become evident in Salvation, His mercy will be displayed in Salvation, His mercy will be apparent in Salvation. When we look at Titus 3:5 we see that we aren’t given Salvation because of our good deeds, but we can obtain Salvation through His mercy.
But we are given the gift of baptism. Through the renewal of the Holy Spirit and the waters of baptism we obtain his Mercy. By the renewal of the Holy Spirit and the waters of baptism we are given the ability to enter the Kingdom of God, the ability to obtain Salvation.
Mercy. Tenderness. These two things were given to us when the sacrament of baptism was created. Additionally, we are given the gift to be able to obtain a life with our Lord! So here is something cool to think about; every baptism we have gone to, when we get/got our children baptized, when we are someone’s Godparents; we are watching a child, an infant or an adult receive the ability to achieve Salvation with the Lord.
We are watching these people receive His mercy so that they can be with the Lord. This is one of the best things ever, because of us witnessing them be washed with the waters of baptism, we are given the sole responsibility to help them achieve Salvation, to keep them accountable.
So are you up for the challenge? His mercy is in us; we just need to live it out to get that salvation. Can you do it? Are you willing to help others get there too?
