So here we have talked about all the different ways we can see his Mercy and receive it. We have gone through how we can get mercy to be so abundant. But one thing that we haven’t gone over is... His mercy should be rejoiced in.
Well, why wouldn’t it be?! Why wouldn’t we rejoice at the thought of eternal life with the Lord? Why wouldn’t we be grateful for the opportunity to share in eternal life with Him? Why wouldn’t we rejoice in the opportunity to consistently push ourselves to obtain this?
Of course, like every good thing, there is work to be done, but shouldn’t we be grateful for the gift of the work to get our Salvation rather than no opportunity at all? “You hate those who serve worthless idols, but I trust in the LORD.” Psalms 31:7
“Through him [then] let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.” Hebrews 13:15
I think so often though we find ourselves rejoicing in other things that take the place of the Lord. Instead of rejoicing in the opportunity that is laid out in front of us, we start rejoicing in the things that take us away from God. We need to start trusting in the Lord so that we can rejoice in the chance to share in a life with Him. We need to start realigning our thoughts, ideas and views so that we are fully focused on the Lord, and so that we can rejoice in the gift He has given us.
Don’t let your gift sit out - don’t let it go unused. Don’t let the Lord’s time and effort He put into giving us this gift go to waste. Put this gift to good use. And like any good gift you are given, make sure you thank Him for the gift.
