O holy Guardian! At thy feet these wreath of humble flowers I lay; O that their odor were as sweet as He desires who sings the lay, Protect me at death's awful hour, Receive my soul to thine embrace, Rich with the wonders of thy power, To thank, to praise thee, face to face.Amen
In the year King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, with the train of his garment filling the temple. Seraphim were stationed above; each of them had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they hovered. One cried out to the other:“ Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts! All the earth is filled with his glory!” Isaiah 6:1-3
“So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden, He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.”Genesis 3:24
The Bible doesn't say how many Cherubim there are, but we're told that Ezekiel saw four and there may be more than that! Their role is to guard God's Holy domain and presence from any sin and corruption. They are sometimes known as the throne angels as they are seen to be around the throne of God.
To me that description sounds powerful and reminds me of the archangel Michael - I wonder if they come together to defend us at certain points? Can you image being guard at the throne of God? No wonder it is not a job for us humans! I don’t think any of us could be strong enough to do that! It seems to me that one of the common themes among all the angels we have studied, in particularly the Cherubim, is protection.
Sometimes I wonder, as silly as it is, if God knows how tough life on earth can be and when I say that I mean the pull between the spiritual life and the material earthly life. Every day whether it’s the popular radio station or a movie that has some bad material or a clothing choice or a work decision..there are so many things that are bad for us or at least don’t align with good values and yet sometimes or many times, the pull is too great and we cave to them instead of living the life God wants for us.
Now when I wonder if He knows how great the pull is though, I’m thinking about all the angels that are there for our protection. Of course God knows, because He made the world AND He sent us all the angels for protection because He does know how tough it can be! He even has the cherubim defending His throne because we all know it’s not “popular” and tough to be a Christian!
This week whenever you feel the pull of the world; whether it’s the extra donut you shouldn’t have or a song that has a bad message or a truly tough decision to make, ask the angels to help and defend you and to continuing defending God’s throne! They’re here to help, let’s make good use of this help! Have a blessed day sisters and don’t forget to say thank you to your guardian angel for protecting you thus far.
What have you been struggling with lately that you need to ask the angels for help with?
